Kun testamentin tekijä oli useille henkilöille maininnut, ettei testamentti enää vastannut hänen viimeistä tahtoaan, katsottiin testamentti peruutetuksi, vaikkei testamentin tekijä ollut voinut sitä hävittää siitä syystä, että testamentin saaja oli ilmoittanut polttaneensa testamentin.
